About Kalki: 2898 AD

Kalki 2898 AD is based on Hindu scriptures about the arrival of Lord Vishnu’s tenth and last avatar, ‘Kalki’ during the ‘Kali-yug’. This film starts off in a post-apocalyptic world, in 2898 AD, where Kali-yug has reached its end and all the evils have made the world a living hell. From the background in the trailer, it is seen that there are futuristic cars and barren lands, almost devoid of greenery.

We see entries of certain characters, like Ashwatthama (played by Amitabh Bachchan) from the Mahabharata, who lived for more than 5200 years.

There are modern characters like Roxie, played by Disha Patani, Sum 80, played by Deepika Padukone, Bhairava, played by Prabhas; and Kali, played by Kamal Hassan, who plays the villain, aka the Supreme Yaskin, in this film.

The ultimate battle will be between Kali and Kalki. Many reviewers feel that this film might be all talk and no show, as this film was accused of copying the posters of Mad Max: Fury Road and Dune. However, many fans hope that this film might bring a new ray of hope to mainstream Indian Cinema’s declining condition.
