Maharaj’s true story?
This movie takes its story from an event that happened during the pre-independence era of India. The plot centers around The Maharaj Libel Case, which shook the courts of Bombay back when the British ruled.
In the narrative, a budding reporter embodied by Junaid Khan exposes the immoral deeds of a well-known Vaishnavite spiritual guide portrayed by Jaideep Ahlawat. What follows is a legal battle for defamation that evolves into a landmark lawsuit, highlighting the fight for fairness and ethical values against the backdrop of a clash between honesty and authority.
In this movie, it is also shown that when people believe blindly, they can make an ordinary individual seem like a deity.

Maharaj Review: Analysis
Initially, there was a lot of hatred towards the film Maharaj, as it was seen as against the religious beliefs of some people and even defaming the religious sect.
However, note that this film is a historical drama based on true events and so it was finally released on Netflix after the court gave it a clean chit. Now coming to the performances in the film, Junaid as a newcomer has done a really good job.
He looks perfect and his acting also shows promise. Jaideep remains the star of this movie with his strong acting as the antagonist. The film comes off as more preachy and a reiteration of history rather than an actual film.
More creative liberties could have been taken to make the film seem like a piece of art. This movie has a strong focus on feminism and its need in society. Now the ultimate judge is the viewer.
