Kalki 2898 AD movie review

Like all movies, Kalki 2898 AD has some ups as well as downs. The visuals and story are strong, but the VFX feels eerily ‘inspired’ by Dune, Transformers, Mad Max, and even Black Panther. The background score is unique enough to be remembered but not grand enough for the mythology-rich premise of the film.

The first half may seem to be dragging as it feels like it is leading to the big ‘Aha’ moment however it is the second half that truly captures the attention. Coming to the bright side, the stunts are amazing and out of this world, the dialogue delivery: is mind-blowing, and the shots? Super crisp and clear. Great direction by director Nag Ashwin.

Kalki 2898 AD Movie Star Performance

Coming to the individual performances of the star cast, Prabhas does a wonderful job being the protagonist of this film. He feels strong even while sharing the screen with legendary actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Hassan. He coolly delivers his dialogues and is the perfect person to play Bhairava, the proud bounty hunter.

Coming to Deepika Padukone’s character Sum80 performs wonderfully as a pregnant mother on the run, trying to protect her unborn child destined to be ‘The One.’ Coming to Amitabh Bachchan, he is definitely the highlight of the film as the eight-foot-tall Ashwattama, who has been living on the earth for many eras.

Kamal Hassan is unrecognizable in his new getup as Kali or Supreme Yaskin. His performance was really scary and devilish, as an antagonist is supposed to be.

Saswata Chatterjee also plays one of the bad guys who shoots lasers from his fists and looks quite menacing and psychotic in his smile but villainous role. Disha Patani is seen in a new avatar but unfortunately, we don’t see much improvement in her acting.
