Sharmajee ki Beti revolves around the ‘Sharma-universe’! Every story of this movie is based on a woman, be it of any age of the same surname, that is, Sharma. This movie shows us a glimpse of the lives of the women in various Sharma families.

The story starts off with Gurveen and Swati, two girls who are about to enter puberty and they are still coping with the fact. Swati feels that her mother Jyoti doesn’t have time for her because she is working all day, giving tuition, while Gurveen’s mother, Kiran, feels lonely as all day her daughter and husband are away and she has no one to talk to.

Kiran’s neighbor is Tanvi, who is a tomboy and a star cricketer on her Ranji cricket team, but she has a boyfriend who is unsupportive and wants to change her personality into a more girly one. Sharmajee Ki Beti Review: Final Verdict

Sharmajee ki Beti is fit for all ages, as the plot focuses on the stories of women from a tender age to a more mature and older age. It is also noticed that men are quite one-dimensional, either supporting and letting their women lead or being super conservative and trying to overpower and subjugate the women.

The presentation of topics like menstruation and homosexuality is done in very superficial ways and not in a more realistic way.

The entire movie has quite an airy and rose-tinted feel to it and only some situations are relatable; the conclusions are not.

However, if you have to choose between movies like Veere Di Wedding, Thank You for Coming, and Sharmajee ki Beti, then Sharmaji ki Beti will give you a better understanding of what feminism is.
